(3) Introduction to Open Work (Lace) Stitches (Tutor Lorraine Leatham)

In this workshop we will explore some different openwork stitches as we make this Aran cowl. Starting with simple stitches we will learn to follow both written instruction and to read a chart. We will progress to more complex stitches; look at how the pattern affects the nature of the knitted fabric and look at how to increase and decrease stitches.

The workshop includes the pattern and the Aran yarn and buttons to make the cowl. Tea/coffee and nibbles also provide.

 

You will need to bring a pair of 5mm knitting needles.

(5) Knitting in the Round-Magic Loop Technique (Tutor: Lorraine Leatham)

In this workshop we will learn how to knit in the round on a circular knitting needle using the 'Magic Loop' technique as we make this cute little baby beanie. We will also look at other uses for circular needles, making an I-cord and have an introduction to knitting in the Continental style.

This workshop is for both those new to knitting in the round or those wanting to master the Magic Loop technique.

The workshop includes all yarn to make your Beanie, the pattern and a circular needle. Tea/coffee and nibbles also provided.

(6) Finishing: Workshop Part 1 (Tutor Lorraine Leatham)

 This brilliant workshop has been designed for those knitters who want to achieve a really professional finish on their work. After all the time and effort  put in to produce a lovely garment, why let it down by just sewing it together. There are finishing techniques that you can learn that when applied will elevate your project from the good level to the outstanding level.  

 In this first 2 1/2 Hour workshop you will learn about:  Tension, Mattress Stitch, Grafting, Picking Up Stitches, and Blocking with lots of Hints and Tips along the way.

 

Things you need to bring with you:

1 Pair 4mm Knitting Needles

Three 4" (10cm) Stocking Stitch Squares (in Aran or Chunky yarn)      Sewing up needle

In this workshop we will use both Fair Isle and Intarsia techniques as we make these festive fingerless gloves. This workshop is for those wanting an introduction to these techniques or those just wanting to get into the festive spirit.

The workshop includes all wool and the Laineknits pattern to make the fingerless gloves. Tea/coffee and nibbles also provide


You will need to bring a pair of 4mm needles, a wool sewing needle and pair of scissors.

Get into the festive spirit with this fun workshop. We will make a range of knitted flowers, holly, and other Christmas inspired decorations and use them to adorn a festive wreath. For knitters of any level.

The workshop includes refreshments, patterns, a wreath and all wool and ribbon to decorate. Tea/coffee and nibbles also provide.

Have you mastered the basic knit and purl stitches but now want to move on from knitting scarves? In this workshop we will learn how to read a commercial knitting pattern, understanding tension, yarn selection, abbreviations and what ( ) and *** mean. Then we will cover how to increase and decrease stitches and make a simple buttonhole as we knit these gorgeous baby shoes.

You will need to bring a pair of 4mm needles and a needle for sewing in ends.
